About Angel Flight NE –
Free Medical Air Transportation

Our Accomplishments, Mission, Staff, & Board

Restoring hope and saving lives is at the heart of everything we do. For over 27 years, Angel Flight NE’s volunteer pilots, ground crew and commercial airlines partners have flown patients to specialty medical facilities across the U.S. and internationally at no cost to the patients. Our mission and focus are simple – saving lives.

Angel Flight NE is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization arranging free air and ground medical transportation for patients with limited financial resources who require frequent trips to life-saving medical care.  The organization is solely supported by donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate sponsors.

Free Medical Air Transportation for Patients

Over 450 volunteer pilots generously donate their private planes and time to make it possible for patients to access the vital healthcare they need, for as long as they need assistance. Other flights are arranged through our generous commercial airline partners. Our ground crew is always ready to shuttle patients from the airport to medical facilities and back again.

Roughly 50% of our patients are children, often suffering from severe burns, cancer or rare diseases.

Humanitarian Flights

We provide numerous humanitarian efforts such as flying medical supplies during times of crisis, flying organs or donors to specific medical facilities, patients to specialty medical camps or retreats and family members to loved ones requiring critical medical care.

Since Angel Flight NE’s first flight in 1996, our mission coordinators have scheduled more than 105,000 free flights.

COVID-19 Relief

When the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded in March of 2020, the world stopped! While many other air charity groups closed temporarily, we stood strong on our mission of being there for our patients and communities during times of crisis. We were one of a few air charity groups that continued to schedule missions and participated in humanitarian mission to transport supplies and medical supplies.
